| The Guests peruse vol I RISSEA newsletter during the newsletter inaugural ceremony |
It was another milestone for RISSEA when it launched its inuagural newsletter on 24th April 2010 at Fort Jesus, Mombasa presided by the National Museums of Kenya Board chairman Mr. Issa Timami. The launching ceremoney for the newsletter, which was generously sponsored by Fairdeal Holdings Ltd, was succesfull and entertaining and a number of prominent people attended the function including the DG NMK Dr. Idle Farah, Prof. Mohamed Abdulaziz, The Chariman RISSEA Advisory Board, RISSEA Advisory board members, Mr, Hussein Zakir one of the Director of Fairdeal, Mr. Mahmoud Noor, SEACOM representative and among others. The invited guests were entertained with classic Swahili taarab, scout youth parade from Innocent souls of Likoni and poetry recitation. Apart from inauguration of the newsletter, RISSEA also launched its website www.rissea.org. Thanks to SEACOM in partnership with Just Imagine Ltd and Kenya Data Network who helped with re-designing the website.

The Acting Director - RISSEA while commenting at the launch activities he stated that the newsletter would provide not only a forum to educate the public on RISSEA's programmes and events but also act as a forum for community members and researchers to publish their work and activities relevant to the mandate of RISSEA.
